Under the bridge in Blantyre, life unfolds in ways most of us never see. Families make homes in makeshift shelters, children play in the dirt, and hope persists despite overwhelming odds.
This is the reality of urban poverty in Malawi. While politicians debate policy and economists analyze data, real people struggle to survive under bridges, in slums, and on the margins of society.
I have walked these spaces, talked to these families, and heard their stories. They are not statistics; they are human beings with dreams, talents, and potential.
Our economic policies must address this reality. We need job creation, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, and education. We need dignity for all Malawians.
The measure of our society is how we treat the most vulnerable. Life under the bridge should not be anyone's reality in modern Malawi.
